According to the Heritage Foundation, Hong Kong has the most economic freedom with Singapore coming in second. The US is fourth behind Australia.

A lot of people might say that a laissez-faire market backed up by the British empire is hardly a 'free' market - but rather another great example of mercantilism. Certainly when Britain began her industrial revolution she had many tariffs which support domestic industry.
