Which indicator or indicators will always improve when more variables are added to a regression equation?

Answer:
I'm a bit confused by the term "indicator", but what I call the coefficient of determination (i.e., R-squared) always increases as additional independent variables are added. That's why the adjusted coefficient of determination (i.e. adjusted R-squared) is a better measure of fit in a multiple linear regression equation.
