Howmany % living in India Below Poverty Line?

Answer:
According to The Hindu (a publication): 26% or about 260 million (193 million in rural areas and 67 million in urban areas) — of Indians are still below the poverty line, according to India's first Social Development Report released in New Delhi (Jan 2006)

Oxfam states (Feb 2007): Indian population below poverty line (US$1 per day): 34.7% (and 2 in 3 people live on less than $2 a day)

Yale states: The proportion of population below the poverty line was 55 percent in 1973, after which there has occurred a secular decline. By 2000 it stood at 26 percent. Although the last figure is disputed because of changes in survey design, there can be no doubt about the long-term decline.
