Well it's somewhat true. The reality is that wealthy nations are eating rotten bananas and then throwing the peel back to the developing nations. If the markets were free wealthy nations would be eating 3/4 of the banana because there would be so many more bananas for everyone. So in the case of tarrifs and other nonsense the wealthy punish themselves to subsidize poorly performing industries with xenophobic policies.
