I am worried about The British Economy after the smocking ban, will it collapse?

will the economy crash now that cigarette sales will plummet?

Answer:
Most smokers wil not quit. Anyway the US dropped from 41% to 21% smoking according to one source and it isn't a big factor for us it is a drag..cigarettes are imported- so currency flows will improve...the Government always finds a way to tax so don't worry about them. The cigarette tax falls disproportionately on poorer people compared to income tax etc so almost any replacement will be more equal and that is generally thought better for overall market performance...

Trade...pubs may close but .. big deal.. Some economic "collapses" correct themselves when not chronic as all the assets like pubs that go out of business get flogged dirt cheap to other companies to do something .. lets hope its original with. Isn't it time we had a better choice than eat, drink or gamble...

Known or probable effects: Some people may live longer, but in old age are likely to stay healthier longer... if we can't adjust to that with more young people will be fitter and able to work well,...
if the economy collapses becasue of cigarettes, then you economy must not have been strong ot begin with...

i am sure it will be fine, lots of cities in the US have the bans and they are all fine.
No, there are still other taxes that will hold the economy up.
it is interesting that since the introduction of smoking restrictions in france, tobacco sales have risen.
Britain depends on the textile industry which might be hit hard by a ban on smocking.
england has never had a smoking problem therefore the smoking ban wont really affect the nation its more foreign people that smoke. plus its an illusion that the smoking ban will actually reduce smoking as people will all congregate outside restaurants once an addict always an addict and no smoking ban can change that...
No the economy won't crash after the smoking ban, they will just keep putting ciggies up and up. It will pay us smokers to do day trips to France and Spain and do Brown Owl out of tax altogether.
Just a thought , watch out you drinkers he is after you next. I think he sings "money, money, money where am I getting it from next" in his sleep.
Don't be soft. Everywhere there has been a ban, (Ireland, Scotland, New York, buisnesses profits have gone UP!!)
the smoking ban is only in public places. there would be a significant drop in sales of cigarettes. Some bars would be affected by the ban but to make an economy crash, that will never happen.
yes, likely to go off in a puff of smoke
