How can we end poverty? Why capitalism has only triumphed in the west but not everywhere else?
Answer:
capitalism works in western economies not because it is a perfect system but because they are characterised by (far from perfect) good governments. the people have reached a level where they can comprehend democracy and the freedom they have been given and where they wont tolerate things such as corruption. in poorer nations people are concerned about things a lot more fundamental then corrupt governments such as finding food, safety and disease which is why the system hasnt worked because there are flaws in the way these countries are governed.
Capitalism works well everywhere. Give some examples of where it is in practice but dosen't work.
First bring back the true 13th Amendment to the Constitution. link here, http://www.thothweb.com/content-556.html... Then enforce it.
W/out taking over the world you can't everywhere. You can end absolute poverty in your own country w. a mixture of Capitalism and Socialism like you have now but w. more emphasis on Socialism. Relative poverty will always be w. us as long as we have some degree of freedom. If nothing else, mental illnesses, drug addiction and alcoholism will always induce poverty in around 10 to 20% of any population. Capitalism more or less triumphed in Brasil a few years ago, the inequalities were/are unbelievable. Since then they voted for their version of a Socialist President (like FDR was) and the poor (really poor) now have some entitlement. Capitalism has it's good side, to the rich and powerful it seems ideal but it failed absolutely in 1929 and only the Great Depression and WW2 could bring about the introduction of FDR's New Deal and an essentially Socialist structure and form of government(s) that impose control on Capitalism in N. America and Europe.
I'll be sure to tell china, korea, japan, and all the other countries in the east that have changed to capitalism that they have failed. though i doubt they will care they are to busy making money
Poverty is a relative term. What today is poverty in this country counted for the highest level of wealth in pre-industrial ages.
That isn't to say relative poverty isn't important.
Unfettered capitalism favors the pirate, who is willing to exploit both earth and men. Without law to protect the interests of the many, capitalism would not function well. These laws aren't capitalistic, but rather elements of socialism.
Russia and China don't seem to have the ability to get up to speed with their protective laws, to check the astonishing rapacity of their pirates. Third world countries don't seem to be able to protect themselves from abusive exploitation by more advanced industrial economies and seem particularly susceptible to bribery in their governments. The USA seems to be on the far edge now of abusive capitalism, and will falter too without adjustments.
The enemy of capitalism is not communism, it's corruption.
