Is ethanol a monopoly product? If not, who are our competitors in this field?

Prospect of ethanol as an alternative source of energy in India India is a sugar surplus country.

Answer:
Technically any country that can grow crops capable of being processed into ethanol would be a competitor.Right now the U.S. is gearing up for a HUGE increase in ethanol production. Many farmers are now replacing food grade corn with ethanol grade corn. This WILL drive up the prices of meat, wheat, milk and many other crops.Brazil I believe, is the world leader in ethanol production at the moment and they use sugar cane.
US and Brazil make ethanol right now.

You can make it from almost any plant, but sugary ones are better for that
