I found some notes for an old essay I don't have any more, Insum, hte aim of merchantilism was neither to raise standard of living of its own people nor to contribute to the well-being of other cuntries. Its only aim was to regulate commerce and industry and to manipulate financial policy so that the power of the state might be promoted relative to other nations. I did this prodject a long time ago, and came across this paper when tidying up, I hope this helps!
