What do you think we can do to overcome poverty??

Answer:
We can never overcome poverty, it always has been and always will be. However, we can strive to reduce it. Then biggest step we can do to reduce poverty is education. We need to see everyone is educated so that they have, at least, an opportunity to obtain gainful employment. We also need to show those who are poverty ridden that they have the opportunity to better them self. In addition reducing the great spread in the highest paid and lowest paid jobs will free up more dollars to be earned.
Communism?

Short of that, better distribution of scarce resources and further investment in education. Scarce resources need to be shared with places that have few, ie food in Africa, or medicine.
all pitch in and help doing whatever it takes.....
All the very, extremely wealthy people should be given tax deductable opportunities to improve the conditions of the poor in the western world first then the third world countries. Poor children should be given opportunities for schooling and healthy food and health care. It seems the rediculously wealthy need tax incentives to peel the money out of their hands then this should be done.
I believe that the country must first get out of debt. Once the country has paid for all the non-existent money they have printed, they can start focusing on driving the economy as equally as possible across the nation making jobs more prevalent. There's something wrong with our welfare system too, just don't much about it to figure it out though.
Poverty comes in two forms: The first is those that beyond their best efforts, nothing is working. The other are the lazy people out there who are too slug-like to work. They want it free. But how do you tell the difference? If I could tell the difference, I would only help those who are doing all they can to help themselves first. I would tax the rich... they have more than enough... and give to the poor - UNTIL they could find their footing and climb out.
i don't know but like tupac said all this rich folks out here making millions and billions of dollars and they ain't given **** to are community i think instead of buying there Cd's and going to watch the movies that all this stars are in we should give it to the poor you know what i mean lol i don't think that money pppl would do that not even me but that is like allot of money.the money that singers make in one yea is probably like about 632 million i read it some were but like im saying where making them rich we are!!! so if we would stop and give it to ppl that need it that would be like 100 times better!
There are many things we can do to overcome poverty. Starting from the bottom, helping those in real need, not just helping them teaching them so that they can help themselves so that they wont have to depend on people because that makes people lazy. more like warefare some people in need rely on that and don't even get a job to sopport themselves or their family and continuing like that will sucumb you to poverty. Moving away from that, you can save any thing you can, not just money. save energy, food, gas. above all, spend with your head don't buy what you don't need. and greed never leads to goodness. humble heart can give you riches
We cannot. We can raise the standard of living for the world by encouraging free markets, rule of law, contract enforcement, private property rights, and discouraging corruption.

Do that in the poorest areas of the world, and you can build wealth like the U.S. anywhere. Anywhere. Those things, not raw materials, ingenuity, or any of our other fine attributes, contributed most to our rise to prominence among the world's economies.
Poverty is a bottomless pit , it can not be eradicated .Poverty is an essential part of the over all system , poverty will always be there , because this is what makes rich people rich , poverty is the far left of the society spectrum , just as the rich are on the far right , it is unfortunate but even if the so stated poor would grow out of it , the moneys would become devalued ,making the poor fall back again , you see the culprit is the cost of living that keeps creeping up and the dollar losing value , consequently there always will be the poor just as ther will be the rich , it is an essential part of our economic system , and that goes also for the socialist system .The truth is that to eradicate the poor we have to eradicate the rich first .
as Jesus said, "there will be poor always",..here in America we have the richest poor on the planet, do you know that almost 50% of the poor, or the people the govt. call poor, own there own home?,..have cabel t.v?.,..and have a car?,..
I know that this may sound a little naive, but the barter system. Where one person is not monopolizing everything, scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.
