What would the economy be like with a minimum wage workers union?

A big part of the healthcare and benefits issues with workers comes fromemployers who do not hire people full time, but rather part time for minimum wage. I think the US could benefit from uniionized labor in new sectors of industry, such as food service and a computer workers union.

How do you think the economic status in the United States would change with a minimum wage workers union demanding benefits or a walkout?

Answer:
If there were minimum wage unions for workers, there is not much going to happen in the US economy except that the jobs that are being done on partime basis will evaporate and shift to offshore locations or to illigeal immigrants. assuming that illegal immigration is fully stopped somehow and offshoring by US companies aee also banned, the US economy will have to bear the additional cost of minimum wages and pass-on the extra costs of social and healthcare security to workmen, the consumers have to pay higher prices. Thus minimum wages do more harm than good. In the 21st century, market for labor has become highly competitive. So, workers will increasing feel the pinch that cheaper or more productive workers elsewhere are taking away their jobs. In trying to get higher minimum wages, theUnions will be able to increase unemployment.
I'm probably going to get a lot of bad feedback because of this, but what the hell, it needs to be said.
A minimum wage union would never work for many reasons. First: In this country you are always paid what you are worth, unless you make minimum wage, then you are more than likely paid more than you are worth. Minimum wage jobs actually serve a purpose for the unskilled workers. It gives them entry into work when they aren't worth anything at all. It gives them a chance to gain skills that can make them worth a better paying jobs in the future. If somehow you force companies to pay more than minimum wage for unskilled workers. They dont raise peoples pay.they just stop hiring unskilled people for those entry level positions. The GREAT news is that no one has to work for minimum wage. In this country you are always free to make yourself worth more than a minimum wage job. However, in a free country people are free to remain lazy and unskilled, so there will always be a supply of unskilled minimum wage workers.
The second reason a minimum wage union wouldn't ever work. A union requires organization, and minimum wage workers just dont have organizational skills, which is one of the reasons they have to work for minimum wage.
Third: Why would low paid workers want to pay a % of their paycheck to union dues?
As far as "demanding benefits".No one is OWED benefits or higher pay. You EARN those things. If you dont have good benefits...sorry you just arent worth good benefits. If you want better benefits, it is up to you to make yourself worth better benefits.
Unions are what eliminated factories from the US...

The economy works on the supply and demand theory. If the demand for $18 an hour factory workers goes up the price of labor should go up...what's happening instead is that Unions caused an artificial cost which drove demand down and caused companies to remove their factories and go where the cost of labor was cheap.

Unions are bad...period. Not because I don't like Unions, but they affect the principles of supply/demand economics. The end is fewer jobs and higher costs for the consumer.
