Why some high pressure steam line require internal blasting?

high pressure line internal blasting

Answer:
unless the steam is made from absolutly pure water, a build-up of non-water molecules (calcium, suphur, carbon, etc) will build up (corrosion) on the inside metal surfaces of the piping. this build-up will eventually cause line failure due to it's acidic action (it erodes the metal). the blasting removes much of the deposits and extends the life span of the steam line.
All steam lines are steam blown during commissioning to remove all debris like electrode parts, rust, dusts etc. as well as to replace air midium with steam .This is a cleaning process of pipe internal to keep steam flowing afterwards from picking them up and in turn spoil steam /condensate /boiler water quality and diposition on turbine blades/ heat exchanger /tube surfaces . Scale formation adversely affect heat transfer rate and frequent tube failure in boiler .
