I need to make a simple vacuum chamber that will allows pressure differentials of approximately 15kPa, although the greater range the better. My budget for this is not very big, so the cheaper the supplies the better. Any suggestions on places to research? Or does anyone have a design they could suggest? It needs to be able to hold an item 1.3 inches by 6 inches. A little bit of room on the sides would be nice though.
Thanks

I would check out the following for a pump:

and check out the following for a chamber:

If those don't work you very well may be able to discern their construction based on their pictures. Essentially all you need is a chamber capable of withstanding the pressure of the atmosphere depending on your altitude and how much of a vacuum you are creating.
do you need to be able to see through this chamber?
Look at

there are about 400 vacuum pumps below $100.--
As chamber, you can use an old pressure cooker (steel), or a bell jar (glass).
