What are the pro's and con's of going into the feild of Electrical Engineering?
Answer:
Electrical engineering involves electronics also. So in my opinion, you won't be restricted to working for a power distribution company. There are many applications of electronics in a wide diversity of companies.
Pros:
1. Decent salary and probably benefits
2. Interesting and challenging work
3. Many jobs in a wide variety of activities are available, e.g., aircraft, aerospace, robotics, systems engineering, computer circuit design, integrated circuit design, power systems design, plant engineering; the list is almost endless
Cons:
1. 4-5 years of intensive study at a university involving complex and challenging courses in physics, math, science, chemistry, cad/cam. et al.
In math you will study calculus, differential equations, statistics and probabilities, wave theory.
In the electrical area: circuit design, control systems, rotating machinery, magnetics, Boolean algebra, et al.
For the average engineering candidate, the curriculum requires focus, determination and dedication to achieving that degree. If you are a mentally gifted person, you will find the program somewhat less taxing.
2. As a salaried person, you will sometimes be required to work 60 hours per week at normal pay, but this is pretty much standard for professional people.

The point is if you work hard and apply yourself, you can graduate with a degree and have a satisfying and challenging career, and a comfortable standard of living.
Pros
generally as an ee you'll go into a distribution company which means that you will work for a company that provides electricity to clients. These companies make decent money and usually offer high salaries
Cons
If you work for one of these distribution companies than whenever a storm hits your out in the rain and lightning either physically trying to get power up or suprivising/coordinating getting the power up. What really sucks is that when Hurricane's Lily , Katrina, and Rita hit LA is that my dad being an ee(electrial engineer) was out working in the New Orleans area for a month. Very dirty and tiring work
