Do you think artificial intelligence is possible?

I do. The mind is a machine, its only a matter of time until we figure out how to replicate it.

Answer:
Artificaial intelligence is a non-living organism demonstrating intelligent thought inone way or another. Go to a site and play chess against a computer opponent and try to tell me it is not intelligent. Grantted it is still a program but so is the human mind. Our mind reacts to certain "moves" in a certain way. The same way the chess program does. The only difference is our ability to of free will. we can change our programmed reaction on our own, a computer cannot.
We have artificial intelligence already. The thing you're typing on is intelligent. No telling though, when it will match the human brain, but I suppose it is possible.
Yes - why couldn't people even have been originally created by another life form or "a god"?
It's been deemed as possible for centuries. Computers, electronics, technology, cars, GPS, you name it. I have this game called 20 Q and it asks 20 questions and it'll say what you're thinking of and it gets it right every time!
any non-living thing that performs a task that has pre-programmed intelligence from its creator is "artificial" intelligence.

So any computer program can be thought of that way.
Yes, I believe there is artificial intelligence. Hollywood is proof of that idea.
Funny you should ask. Of course you know a terabyte is 1000 gigabytes. Well the human brain- limitless information. I don't belive we can fully develop artificial intelligence. It would millions apon millions of terabytes. To get that to fit in a human skull would be almsot impossible. As artificial intelligence is fasinating it is still science fiction. As i am a nonbeliver my opinion is easy to predict. The human brain is amazing! We are basicly a large mass of wrinkled fat with nerves and many attachments. I enjoyed answering your question, thank you!
The obvious answer is no, because all intelligence is handed down from a previous intellect.
You can now go and buy chips for specific purposes. No programing required because it is already on there. But somebody put it there. You then combine a lot of chips to do a complicated task.
You then pass that unit on to somebody that builds it into a bigger unit etc.

There is no compter that can think for itself, it works to rules that have been programmed into it. Even if you could download the brain of Stephen Hawkins and Einstein, then that becomes a programme.

But the other answer is yes, because we don't know what's out there.
That’s a complicated question. One could argue “No” it’s not possible by theology… machines don’t have the equipment (ie souls) but you don’t want that type of argument. Some of the reasons why I think the answer to your question is “no” is because there are actually formal proofs that there are some things that machines can never do...computers can only do what they are programmed to do. I mean they don’t have extra-sensory perception. After all, humans constantly change, evolve, and learn everyday. We have the capacity for emotions and ability to think for ourselves… I don’t think a machine will ever have that capability; however, it may be possible… I’m not for sure.
Then again… when a computer is told that “lemon is a type of vegetable” then it can “know” just as well as we do because I mean even if you went on to tell that a vegetable is a kind of tool, the same would have happened if you were to tell that to a human (a human who is not fully mentally nor psychologically developed… like a kid). We pretty much recognize objects by visual patterns – a lemon is yellow… bumpy … it grows from trees etc. If say man made the computer with excellent sight/speech that let it recognize characteristics and correlate them with words and if programmed to use those well, then it could possibly achieve as good a simulation of intelligence as we have.
I mean if I locked you up in a box for 30 years and brought you out and told you that that grass grows pink and that the sun is green, you’d probably believe it.

But if you think about it... there's 2 things in the world... mind and body... the body is physical and the mind is a non physical thing... so how can man create something that's non physical?
Is it even possible for something to properly function in the right way but still not have a mind?
So, man still doesn't kow if artificial intelligence is possible.
If you take all the computers in the world and used them together, it would not be able to have the intelligence that a newborn baby has, Our intelligence started at the point of conception in the womb, and even as small as that sounds, we are not even close to that kind of artificial intelligence. So realistically you could dream, and try, but you will not ever see it happen, besides that. we have enough programmers on this planet looking for work. No! I don't think it is possible.
