What is the meaning of modular versus integrated design strategy?

Answer:
Modular means by individual modules that get hooked together and added on separately. ~
Integrated is being shoehorned into the base circuit. Nothing extraneous.
Modular design is represented by the design of smaller 'modules' that are fitted together to make the larger whole. It is usually easier and cheaper to design modularly as the 'modules' can be used for different projects, therefore the modules only have to be designed once. Take for example an general electronic device. If the device wanted to use Blue Tooth then they could either make their own Blue Tooth transmitter/reciever themselves or use a pre-made Blue Tooth module which does the same thing.

As for integrated design, it is the opposite of modular design; all design is done together. This is usually from scratch and means designing the product as a whole.
