yes it is a great decision as civil engineering has a very good scope in the future and all the other lines r also as demanding as this so it is wise to go in for this!
It doesn't matter that you're a 'girl'. Say 'woman'. There are no gender jobs. If you can cut it, if you got the 'chops', GO FOR IT.!! Never, ever, let gender get in the way of what you want to do! Ill bet you'll be a kick butt Civil Engineer! All the best-Bob.

after completing your civil engg you will most probably get a field job ..and will include a lot of supervision on the work being done at the const sites..mostly the job hours in this field are very erratic .you could be reqd to be present at 2am or 2pm.so if ur game to handle the male staff under u...and competing with 95% of the male enggs in india.go for it...plus be prepared to study loads of maths in college...civil engg is all about maths
i too have opted for civil engineering this year..at first i was not sure about this branch,everyone whoever i met used to tell that my branch is not good..u can have a look over my questions i too have asked about this branch ..but i can say that this branch has scope always.,its a great choice..all branches of engineering has scope whereas civil too have no need to worry about it..now a days girls opt that branch i have checked it out in my college too..there r more girls no need to worry..and there r more subjects in this branch,u can either go to field or other such as CAD i mean designing which is gud for girls too,u can also go for planning,many more.. people usually confuse about this branch if girls study this branch they say we need to work out but no its not like that,u can also work in computers later if ur intrested in designing.. b cool., just enjoy ur holidays..
