Chemical engineering ??

fOR BHARATI VIDYA PEETH PUNE......?

what subjects and topics we study in chemical engineering
or mechanical engineering/?

which is better......

i have just finished my 12th...what subjects i shud me strong in...i wanna study before joining college.....?

i want to chat.,.,,or talk to a person doing chemical engineering or....from BVP(pune)

thanks...

Answer:
go for mechanical...there is wide scope

for chemical scope in india is subdued
well mechanical engineering or elz chemical..its up 2 u....u choose according 2 ur liking...
when compared 2 chemical engineering mechanical hav a great potential in it....it consists of subjects like thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, metrology and surface engineering, power plant engineering, robotics and etc.,where as chemical engineering consists of all chemical related topics like electrochemistry, process heat transfer, material science for chemical engineering and etc.,.
mechanical engineering will helps u in doing Masters in automobile engineering, automobile designing or elz u can also opt for aeronautical engineering n etc.
i would suggest u 2 opt 4 mechanical engineering being a mechanical engineer..
they are both the most diff. faculities in the engineering department.

as a chemical engineer u will study some general engineering courcess such as fluid mechanics thermodynamics and chemical engineering thermodynamics in addition:). u ll study on transport processes as one of the main things in chemical engineering. such as heat, mass and momentum transfer. (these courses requires mathematics and basic chemical engineerin knowledge rather than chemistry) chemical engineering is not all about chemistry it is mostly mathematics and engineering. but u also know chemistry that is one thing that seperate u from other engineers. chemical engineering has the most wide area of interest among the other engineering diciplines i think. reaction engineering course is one of the main courses too. in that course u learn how to design a reactor the flow rates in the reactor, catalysts adding if it is needed, temperature of the reactor etc. it is hard to list all here.

u can enjoy chemical engineering but it is a very tough faculity good luck in ur future choices:)
They are both difficult courses of study. Here's how I think of the differences between the two:

Chemical engineers do more design work. They tend to focus on separation and reaction operations in the petrochemical arena, but can work in any one of a number of different fields: materials, polymers, research, industrial chemicals, or pharmaceuticals.

Mechanical engineers work more on the implementation of systems, although they also do design work. I know of mechanical engineers who consult in accident investigations, who work in failure analysis (for airplane parts), who install and layout piping for chemical plants and other manufacturing facilities, who design and do load calculations for biomedical parts (replacement vertibrae).

Chem Engs focus on process aspects. Mech eng focus more on material strength and structural aspects.
