What is the reason for sound to persist in public hall even when the source of sound has ceased?
Answer:
since the speed of sound is pretty slow (330 m/s), even after the source has ceased, the sound vibrations are still there..in a enclosed hall, this effect is enhanced by the ceiling and walls which reflect the waves.
It's called an echo.
The sound waves do not have any way of escaping the hall, so your ears will still detect the sound waves until they dissipate.
