Why we require electrical drives with motors?

hi I am new in electrical and automation field so I would like to know that Why we require electrical drives with electrical motors (why we require electrical drives to run motor - what are the advantages ), basic funda of electrical drives and tell me how does electrical drives works and types of electrical drives

Answer:
An electrical drive is required to control the speed and duration of the movement of the motor. When this type of motor is used it is generally for precise or intermittent movement. The alternative is a series of clutches and brakes on a motor constantly running. The drive is capable of much more precise movement which is the desired effect in an automation project.
