How thin can I get nylon string? Can I keep it tight or will it break?

What is the smallest diameter possible of thread I can obtain? Which thread? Will I need a microscope to place/locate it? Where do I buy it?

Answer:
You will certainly need a microscope to see the thinnest diameter possible. However, anything you may practically use (except perhaps in medicine) will be larger than that. To properly answer your question I would need to know the application. As far as where to find something like this, the internet is a good start, followed by trade manuals. Hope that helps.
