How many plugs are in a British power plant?

If it takes 15 miuntes to shut down when there is a flood warning, I can imagine that there are LOADS!

Answer:
There are loads of plugs in a British power plant but that's not the principle reason they take a long time to shut down!

The speed of shutdown varies a lot - the fastest probably still are the gas turbine units used for load cropping. These can shut down in seconds. The slowest are nuclear power stations, though in an emergency even these can be shut down in minutes - but you would need to vent steam - the reactor will still be running down - and set the turbo generators into "barring" mode. As you can imagine these run quite hot and have to be rotated slowly when recently used to stop the shafts becoming distorted.
my intricate knowledge of british power stations would say that the reason for the long shut down time would be the time taken for the huge turbines to stop moving and to put out the fires heating the fuels.
