First consider the voltage. A D cell is 1.5 volts. So a 9v battery is equivalent to 6 D cells (6 x 1.5v = 9v). If your boom box took 6 D cells, you are in luck. How to hook it up? You could get a 9V battery clip from Radio Shack for convenience, otherwise tape the wires on. The receptacle for the D cells in the boom box would have the batteries connected in series, meaning the bottom of one connected to the top of the next. So take your + wire from the 9V and connect it to the terminal where the top of the first D cell goes, and connect the - wire to the terminal where the bottom of the last touches. These will probably be near each other.
All you need is a 9v battery clip and conect the wires Positive to positive and negative to negative.
