What is the difference between square feet and feet sq. Are 4sq. ft. and 4 ft.sq. the same ?

Suppose I have a square piece of 2ft. X 2ft. So the area is 4 sq. ft. Can I say this same piece as 4ft. sq. ? Or it should be said as 2ft. sq. ? Pl. help.

Answer:
Generally the term "4 feet square" means a square with each side being 4 feet long. 4 square feet means a rectangle or square with a total internal area of 4 feet^2 That could be a 2' by 2' square, or a 1' by 4' rectangle. When you phrase it as "4 foot square" or "4 feet square" that means the sides are all 4 feet long and the internal area is actually 16 ft^2
they both have the same meaning.
In most cases, these terms refer to the same amount of space.
Yes
they both mean the same,
but proper terminology is sq.ft.

2 ft sq generally refers to the dimensions of the sq, 2'X2'.
4 sq ft refers to the area of the sq.
4 ft. sq. would be 4 ft X 4 ft. NO, they are not the same.
