What is the difference between computer science and information technology?

Answer:
Computer Science is the study of how computers operate and how they are designed, down to the lowest level, hardware, firmware, and software.

Information Technology is the study of how to apply computers and software (what the Computer Science people have created) to solve problems, usually in a business environment.

I know that this is a very short answer, but having been in the Computer Science field since the 70s I believe it to be a good and accurate summarization of the difference between these two fields.
I think it's basically the same except that Computer Science is more technical and more deep. In my campus, the have Computer Science for the higher course/level, while the Information Technology is for the junior high.
