What is a passive solar heating&cooling system?



Answer:
It is a design which provides heat and cooling to a home or building without using any electricity or fuel. No fans, no motors, etc. It is a design which utilizes the sun, and natural storage media, like water, or rocks etc. for heating, and proper thermal ventilation functions for cooling.

Passive solar cooling/heating would be if you planted a large deciduous tree on the south side of your house. In the summer it would shade your house, keeping it cool. In the winter it would allow sunlight to warm your house.
