In the movie, it is just a CGI (Computer Generated Image). There are some ideas of how to make things appear 'invisible'. There is work being done on technology similar to what is seen in that movie though. The premise to cover the object in screens and cameras. The cameras 'look' at the other side of the object, and project that image onto the screens; thus, when you look at the car, you are looking at a big TV screen, showing an image of the stuff on the other side of the car. I hope this made some kind of sense!
