If you are not talking about the tape used for recording you want the rubbery steel-filled tape. It is the kind used for refrigerator gaskets and for attaching photos to steel whiteboards. Try looking in craft stores (which sell it for making refrigerator magnets) or in building supply stores.
Anything from a telephone answering machine tape cassette to a videotope cassette is trivially available at any electronics store.
