Oscillator choice?

I'm creating a device that uses an accelerometer to produce a tone over a speaker. As the device accelerates the frequency should increase. I figure if I use some micro controller to simulate a digital pot, or some other output, I could drive some oscillator. Any ideas on an oscillator type?

Answer:
Use a VCO = voltage controlled oscillator. It's available as an integrated circuit and uses not many components beside the active chip.
Search Google for VCO circuit
Use an LTC1799, from Linear Technology. Its 8 pins and requires very few parts . Page 7 of the data sheet shows how to use it as a VCO; otherwise you set the frequency with a resistor.

Digikey may have them, or Mouser.
