What sort of production method is used to produce small plastic parts?
Answer:
Generally injection molding, the plastic beads are melted to their plastic state, and injected at high pressure into the steel mold. The cost per part with this method is very low, but the setup is expensive, very. If the part has a void in the center, it can be inflated into a mold, which is sometimes a little cheaper, i.e. extrusion molding.
If you need to make some small parts but you can't afford the high setup fee for injection molding, you can either do D.I.Y. injection molding, or do home-molding of plastic,

Or if you don't want to do it yourself, but still need low cost, you can consider using pewter rather than plastic. Molding costs for pewter are much lower.
I was that someone used pewter for a limited run Britten motorcycle model, because they couldn't justify tens of thousands in setup fees.

Sounds like moulding
could be injection molding but depending on the state of the plastic you could be right as well.
Both extrusion and injection molding are used. The shape of the part being made determines if injection molding or extrusion is used.
