Why self-bias is used most popular in transistor?

Answer:
A self biased transistor is only good for situations where you don't care about gain. It is in fact NOT used on any sort of amplifier circuit with any regularity unless followed by an AGC circuit.

Self biasing is a cheaper way of biasing an Xsistor - but you only save a penny or two on a couple of resistors.

NEVER self bias FETS, their gains are all over the place.
