What is the best state to live in for a career in engineering?

I am looking to shake things up when I finish my M.S.M.E. and was just wondering which state has the best opportunity and pay for a mechanical engineer.

Answer:
china...or mexico.or portugal.or even canada...but no longer detroit..but seriously i used to work in manufacturing and the best state i would have to say is one of the carolinas.there are alot of injection molding companies which have moved there.pay isnt great there but cost of living is next to nothing
A state with large cities and or places with a lot of manufacturing.
Michigan - Kettering University in Flint/ My mom works here/ It is a great school to go to for engineering/ My cousin went here and he is an engineer/ I plan on going here also
There are a lot of jobs in California and Texas. But there are also a lot of jobs close to NY City, Boston, and New England
North Carolina in the Piedmont area. Lots of manufacturing in one area with not nearly enough of engineering to support them. I know many engineers who use this to their advantage by moving to different company's which not only gives them diversity but it also allows them to take control of their salary. It's good to have options.
If you're looking to shake things up, why not try Afghanistan, Iraq, or Iran. Oh wait, no, try North Korea, they love a good engineer from the states.
India or China -- cause thats where all the jobs are going.
The state of Euphoria! But if you can't get there, I'd settle for any state that has the lowest state income tax rate (Florida or Texas), I like to keep what I earn.
