Go to the vibelights.com website and read the FAQ section and everything else you can find. Note the cautions about not running an inverter/driver power supply without a wire connected to it and using a series resistor and fuse if connecting to a wall outlet without a driver.
It appears that the EL wire can be soldered. I would imagine that solderless "wire nut" connectors could be used also.
You need wire strippers to remove the insulation, but you can probably do that with a knife. Hardware stores, building supply stores and Radio Shack have wire strippers, wire cutters, and wire nuts. If you want to solder, use a small iron not a gun and solder with rosin core flux. Radio Shack has the right kind of soldering irons and solder.
