What do engineers do besides inventing things?
Answer:
They don't really invent things, they design things to perform to specifications with proper safety margins so as to prevent failure.
Their job is to design mechanical or electronic systems that perform a certain function, do a certain task or provide a certain environment for a specific cost, or to ascertain that the task cannot be performed adequately for that cost.
have lives...like all of us.
Figure out how to make things smaller, cheaper, and fit into spaces of airplanes and ships, etc, and design efficient factory layouts, design and spec buildings, ... etc.
They do many things. A electrical engineer for example would put plans together for a power distribution system for a building.
Funny question.
There are many kinds of engineers, from civil to electrical to computer to audio engineers ... and I'm sure they do plenty of things besides "inventing"
My brother is an electrical engineer. He graduated from college three years ago here in the US, and now he's working in London, UK. He plans stuff, draws stuff, calculates stuffm, edits stuff... visits nuclear plants where the work is done regularly and..stuff like that. He's a math wiz so he likes it.
I guess it depends on the type of engineering that's done, and on the type of company you work for ...
I cant answer for all but i like to play with my kids at the beach. Have a hot dog at the baseball game. Sit on the deck and listen for geese in October and oh yea shake the packages und the Christmas tree. And most of all invent things!! good luck from the E!!
engineers produce engineers beside investing things(teachin)
they also observe the functioning of previously invented devices
they also try to make these devices more economical
most they like to study other people's inventions
A design engineer will probably invent things and create patentable pieces of things more than a support type engineer that is handed a set of project specifications and required to do all the work necessary to complete the project. This will probably include some original work but the person who did the specifications would be the inventor in this case.
A design engineer will often be handed a problem to solve that requires some creative and unique solution and this is true invention as it is unique and never been done before. In some cases an earlier solution to the problem is too big, expensive or just not functional enough. This case still can be an invention if the solution is truly novel.
excuse me engineers design things but inventor can be anybody
