I suggest that you contact the International precious Metals Institute (IPMI). http://www.ipmi.org/ The members of this organization are mostly associated with recovering precious metals from wastes or recycling products.
I would guess he is not alive seeing he wrote a book before 1935. You could guess he would have been at least 20 when he wrote it. so today he would be 92+ :P
