How can I convert a 12V DC source to (roughly) 5.4V?

The source is a car's battery and the output will go towards powering a PDA. The power supply's original output info was 2410mA at 5.4V...
Any suggestions as to some simple Radioshack components to buy or a required part I'll need?

Answer:
You need a voltage regulator. Look at the National LM338:

Or the National LM2678:

First check whether the PDA maker has a cable for that already. ~
If not, you could use a resistor to drop the voltage, after you find out what amperage the PDA draws from the power supply.
A voltage regulator is an additional possibility, but unless you are well versed in electronics, I would be very careful with that!
