How can I calculate wind force on a surface?
Answer:
well, firstly, you need to get some reading done. There are equations (form factors i believe they are called) which help represent the area of the surface which the air acts upon. If the shape is simple and flat, then this is rudementary, however, for things that are more complex, the mathematics is nearly impossible without computure interpretation.
If it is a flat surface, perfectly perpendicular to the area in question, just use a fluid mechanics book. Air can be treated like a moving fluid and its force can be found by knowing its density, and velocity.
if it is complicated, leave it to the professionals.
i am a graduate with 2 degrees in engineering (Mechanical and resource) and it would be above my head unless very simple
I'm not sure of the calculations, but this scale might help you.
