I am doing project on electronic baton. It will recognize orchestra conductor movement and translate into musical tempo. We want to place all of electronic components inside the handle. But, handle is very small so we decided to use coin battery to power up the device. The problem is button battery maximum voltage is only 3V.We need voltage up to 9 V.What I think is I want to connect 3 battery in series to produce 9V of power. But, I do not know how to connect them. Please help me.Is connecting button battery in series is the same as normal battery?
Answer:
You can just stack them up, perhaps in a plastic tube, positive to negative, I have a small LED flashlight in front of me that has three button cells stacked in this manner, held in contact by a spring
If you connect the batteries together so that the positive of one is connected to the negative of the next, you will be adding in series and increasing said voltage. If you connect all positives together and likewise the negative, it will be in parallel and only increase your current available, not voltage.
