How to design a screw pump?
I am working on the redesign of a windmill water pump, trying a different design that doesn't stress the structure so much.
For that I intend to use a screw pump instead of a piston pump, but the problem is that none of the main manufacturers makes a pump like the one I need. So I need to design one myself. However, I am not sure of how to design a screw pump.
Can you help me?

The screw is a pain to make. There is a version of the Acrchimedian screw pump called a Wirtz pump. I have made this type and it was very easy. See the link below.
All you need is a hose. You can also wrap the hose around an inclined shaft and turn the shaft. I have seen folks use the flow of a river to turn the shaft for both verisons of this pump.

Go to this web site and make the screw as if it would be hand cranked, but add a motor to it. The Archimedes screw is easy to make. Just make sure it is tight enough that there is little leakage. Because you are using water the water can act for lubrication.
