How do electric motors affect the environment?
Answer:
Only indirectly. They require electricity and electric plants affect the environment. They are made from aluminum, copper and iron the mining and refining of which affects the environment. They also contain insulating varnish which is a potential source of volatile organic compound emissions during manufacture and a potential source of toxic waste. They are usually lubricated with petroleum products. When they are worn out, most of the materials can be recycled, but not everything.
I forgot to mention noise as mentioned above. There is also some waste heat.
Everything effects the environment in one way or another. Noise is one way, electronic static noise too. Ummm trashing them, building them. Heck there is no end.
Hippies trying to ban them too?
In a zero profile way.
