Strongest Magnets?

What kind of magnets could pick up 100kg or more? And where would one get them? (I dont know a lot about particular magnets so I cant go into specifics)

Answer:
For that kind of weight you could use several types of magnets. Typically, the best performance by weight will be in rare earth magnets, specifically N50 rated neodymium magnets which are the cadillac of rare earth. A 3" diameter 2" thick can lift 250lbs. You could also make an electromagnet to fit this range, there is really no limit to their size and capability. Junk yards use them to move cars around like they're nothing, and you have the advantage of being able to turn them off with a switch. It really comes down to the application, super strong magnets are also hard to work with, and are actually dangerous - the magnet in question could litterally crush your hand or finger if you got them in between the magnet and an attractible surface. You also might have significant trouble removing it from a surface if you let it get stuck to one. You can find all the specifics by searching for rare-earth magnets, electromagnets, and there are also ceramic magnets (less power by weight, but cheaper).
electromagnets can be very powerful, and some could easily lift 100kg. such as those used at auto boneyards... i'd just google it and see what kind of magnets one could get without being in a lab or a lot of money
i would say electromagnets are the strongest, try searching for industrial magnets online.here....... Source, The, (Master Magnetics, Inc.) - -
dont know where to look but scrap yard use magnets to lift cars, all a magnet is is a metal with an electrical charge put through, so the higher the charge the stronger the magnet, you could research on how to make one, heard its not rocket science
A neodymium magnet or NIB magnet
NIB magnets produced in China
Get them from a hardware store

I'm guessing you're not in the us. So shipping might be a problem.

Buy magnets use for lifting as they're cheap. You're local hardware store or large scale tool store might have them.
