Crushed stone sand for hydraulic cement concrete.?

crushed stone sand is a fine aggregate used in the manufacture of concrete.what are the technical benefits over river sand .what are the environmental impacts of crushed stone sand.Is river sand technically &environmentally superior to crushed stone sand.

Answer:
river sand has rounded shape... and thus have poor binding strength...
whereas crushed stone sand has rough surface that binds better with cement...
River sand is more uniform in size and has a smooth surface as mentioned by Harsh - I. The jagged surface helps mechanicl 'keying' effect and can form a stronger composite. However, air entrapment can be more, which can weaken it unless proper vibration compacting is used.

Crushed stone powder is a by product, though some intentionally do this as a product.

Dredging river sand may create some erosion problems. On the other hand the process itself is a sort of milling by flowing water and does not generate suspended particle matter, which crushed stone does. The latter is energy intensive and that has its own eco implications.
crusshed sand is avialable in all sizes .but in rever sand we cant get regular size.but river sand is always better than other artificial sands.
