Answer:
I haven't ever seen a spring, but I've seen a lot of heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders (i.e. shock absorbers). They look like bottle-jacks, except they are huge.

You need to time it just right and jump right before it hits the ground.
no, unless you call those spiral shock absorbers "springs"..
