What is the difference between stairwells and staircases?

Could you explain it to me? :)

Answer:
STAIR WELLS MEANS A VERTICAL WELL AROUND WHICH THERE IS A STAIR WAY. BUT STAIR CASES USUALLY GOES STRAIGHT THEN OPPOSITE DIRECTION BUT AFTER A LONG WAY.

IS IT ENOUGH?
stairwells usually go round and round, whereas staircases are back-and-forth

:)
The stairwell is the space underneath the staircase.
This only aplies to staircases that are open behind them.
You can walk underneath and behind the stairs because it's open space. That's the stairwell.
I always thought they were the same... but... if I had to give an explanation, I´d say a stairwell is more enclosed, with walls on either side... or the type of stairs that you would find in large buildings (where you go through double doors to access the stairs) and a staircase would be more open (with only one wall on one side or no walls at all) and more visible to the room (the type that is usually found inside houses)
A stairwell is the space that the stairs are constructed in eg the rectangular shaped shaft that rises from the bottom to the top of the building
Guess you are going to have to guess now who is telling the truth or who knows what they are talking about. You have plenty of choices. I say they are the same, thing, in normal every day conversations, the words are used interchangeably
A stairwell is the shaft in which a staircase is built.
A well in a building is a vertical shaft that penetrates the floors, i.e. liftwell , stairwell and in the case of a stairwell contains the stairs. A staircase is a term more commonly used for domestic construction and is for the stairs as a whole unit. More commonly referred to as just "stairs"
