Which is better stainless steel, 301 or 304?

Wikipedia says 301 is better. However, many other sites say 304 is better.

*Type 304 is better stainless steel than 301.
*Type 304 is an Austenitic steel.
*intergranular corrosion is not a problem in ss304 due to low carbon content(0.04%) as against 0.1% in ss301.
Weldability is good due to low C in SS304.

304, wikipedia is normal people contributing...that lets face it normal people are stupid (sorry normal people)
Call me pedantic but no material is 'better' than another one. Each material has different properties that are there to be assessed for their suitability to fit a given application.

If 301 cost half the amount of 304 but does the job you need it to, then 301 is 'better'.

304 has a higher specification than 301.
