Answer:
in an ordinary gas or electric oven,heat from a flame or from heated coil strikes the cooking vessel.which becomes hot.the heat is conducted in to the out side of food and from there to .microwaves,however,pass through cooking vessels made of pottery,china,plastic,and even paper without heating them,the way ordinary radio wades pass through most substances.but the microwaves cause water molecules to vibrate rapidly,and their friction produces heat.

Well, a device called a Magnetron "shoots" high frequency radio waves to heat items up.

It has to do with water. A microwave oven produces energy at a wavelength that causes water molecules to energize and produce heat. If an item is without some form of water it will not heat up from a microwave.
A microwave oven shoots out radiation waves from a magnetron that react with the water molecules in food. These water molecules heat up, and are generated throughout thye food, making the entire product heat up.

Did you know: The microwave was in use many years before and did not heat up food. It was actually used for performing lab experiments. However, it began to get used for heating up food when a scientist walked by the machine with a chocolate bar in his pocket?
