Where are hydraulic ram pumps used?

What are they used for?

Answer:
They are used when one has a large supply of flowing water and one wants to raise a relatively small percentage to a higher elevation without using an external power supply. Personally the only thing I have used "hydraulic ram pump" for it so see how many hits Search!Yahoo gets (over 9000) many of the links found have illustrations an a more detailed description than I can give here.
They are used in dump trucks, hydraulic rams in garage's, folk lifts etc.
