How to do well in engineering?

Answer:
Dont be afraid to ask other engineers for their opinion or for help. There is always a chance that another person dealt with the same problem before or can lead you in the right direction.

If doing work in a plant, it is always a good idea to talk with maintenance if doing any larger projects. They have a much better feel for how things go on the floor and usually have good suggestions.

It is always a good idea to have another person review your work, calculations, specs etc. If been working on a project a while, it gets easy to over look something.

Always keep in mind costs, today, project capital costs are a big determining factor nowadays and are tracked very closely.

And use common sense too, the simplest way is usually the best way.
read ur text books and go to field more often depending on ur area of specialization
To do well in engineering you must be clear with your concepts. You should have a solid foundation.
Don't become a US citizen.. the US government and US corporations hate US citizens..
Learn how to solve problems, not answer questions. An engineer has to come up with the questions that need answering and then answer them.
The attributes that most successful engineers possess are analytical thinking and problem solving. You need to be able to look at things in a systematic way (even if it's a way that has never been done before) in order to solve problems or just make things happen.

To succeed in engineering school, learning the fundamentals will be key. Analytical thinking and problem solving - then add to that the basics of the discipline you hope to master. Once the concepts of the basic areas are well known it is easier to tackle higher level tasks.

The hardest thing is to teach someone how to think.
The best way to be a good engineer is to actually be interested.

If you have an interest in everything, how it's made, how it works, then you'll be a good engineer.

Engineering isn't something that you can forget about once you go home.
be polite and don't be a bighead.
