I'm microwave shopping, & the ads give the sizes in cubic feet. How are you supposed to tell how big it is?

I can't tell whether it will fit under the counter, or what it will hold. Why don't they just give dimensions (height, width, length)? What am I supposed to do, say "oh, a microwave 1.7 cu. ft. Great! That will hold 3 cubic baked potatos"?

Answer:
you are funny...lol. well just measure the inside in feet; hight x width x depth. that will give you the volume in cubic feet. Now as far as the potatoes, you will need to take the microwave to the grocery store just to be sure the potatoes you pick will fit...
There are different kinds for different locations. If you want an under-the-cabinet microwave, you need specific models for this. However, if you just want to place a microwave on your counter top, then any microwave will work since the average distance between counter top and cabinet is 24 in-36 inches, most (if not all) microwaves will fit. The cubic feet is just the opening size. Smaller microwaves are good for college dorms because they don't need them to be large (popcorn popping the most), however, for a household, I would go with something a little large, perhaps 1.7-2.5 cub ft. And 1.7, will hold 3 baked potatoes.
If your lucky a potato what if they make it

1inch by 6 feet by 6feet
one would think that you'd realize that you need to go to a store and check. but one would think many things that are questionable, at best. even when you see them in a store, they're probably not gonna tell you the outside dimensions. you probably ought to take your measuring tape with you. after first having measured the space in which you'd like it to fit.

as for baked potatoes, you need to do them in a "real" oven.
or a toaster oven.
a micro wave will steam them, and i, for one, don't consider that baked.

however, if you're intent on committing such sins on potatoes, you'll need to lay some out, measure what space they take, and bring that with you while shopping.
