What is ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING?

I have taken up electrical enginnering(electronics and power engineering says the course details)
could som1 please give me some info on the subjects i wud hav to study.
i also want to know what are the career opportunities for electrical engineers in india or abroad.
Can electrical engineers work independently?
(i stil hav option to change d branch)
i hav interest in power generation etc. but not tht much in electronics such as semiconductors, triode..etc

Answer:
Electrical Engineering encompasses a broad area of fields, from power engineering, to solid state physics and integrated circuits, electro-magnetics, inductive machines, electronics (analog or digital), low frequency or high frequency (RF, microwave etc), computer engineering, firmware, control systems, microprocessors, embedded software design etc).

The types of classes you're expected to take are
- Math - lots of math - advanced calculus, differential equations, complex variables, statistics etc.
- Circuit analysis
- Electronics
- Control systems theory
- Electromagnetic field theory
- Computer architecture, microprocessors
- Digital systems design
- Assembly language and higher language programming
- AC/DC, power analysis, power transmission, motors, inductive machines etc
- Communications, data transmission
- Specialization courses
- Core cores in other engineering disciplines, like mechanics, thermodynamics
- Lots of labs
designing electrical networking in buildings or any other type of usage of electricity.also figuring how many amps and volts are needed when a power plant is built and like building a house and figuring where the lines are to be placed and how much watts are going to be used each year.
