How much should be the rate of filling or emptying the water ballast tanks in ships? Is there any classification rule in this matter? Could you introduce me somewhere for detailed information? Thanks in advance.
Answer:
It's all depend on the displacement of the ship. In order to make the ship float, the ship's tanks has to contain a suitable amount of air to make it balance with the water around it. The larger the displacement of the ship, the more air it need to store inside the ballast tank, normally there's a guide to decide that.
